"Our love of wooden art was nurtured virtually from the cradle. As small children, we would sit for hours in the factory with our father and watch how the 'wooden mannequins' would be dressed in magnificent clothes."
The desire to make our own mark in this direction had been right there within us for a long time. By early 2006, we felt our time had come. One night, we sat down together at the kitchen table and began sketching angels. We felt strongly that they should lean toward the modern, graceful and slender, representing the woman of today. Armed with our drawings and somewhat comical 3-D models baked from dough, we then went to Gundolf Berger, the managing director of our father's old factory (
www.gahlenz.de). He was sold right from the start and provided great support for the realisation and development, both in practical terms as well as expertise. The result was the singular creations that we are now presenting in the new
Kollektion Sternkopf.
